NOW OPEN: GERARD UNGER SCHOLARSHIP 2023

March 2023

TypeTogether’s 2023 Gerard Unger Scholarship is now open for submissions!

Calling all current or graduated students! If you have developed a typeface in a type design course within the past two years (2021–2022 and 2022–2023), our annual mentorship programme is now open for submissions. The winning student will be given guidance and support in developing their career after graduation through critique, expert feedback, economic support, and a publishing contract with TypeTogether.

New, easier process
To make the process easier and more fair, this year we have created a simple online form for submissions and an instruction form that gives tips for the best possible presentation of your type family.

You can find out more information about eligibility, how to apply, and key dates here. Additional information is also available by emailing scholarship[at]type-together.com.

Previous winners
This is our ninth instalment, following Bely, (designed by Roxane Gataud, published in 2016, awarded with a TDC award), Noort (designed by Juan Bruce, released in 2017, awarded with a TDC award), Temeraire (designed by Quentin Schmerber, published in 2018), Laima (designed by Bogidar Mascareñas, released in 2019, awarded with a TDC award), Lektorat (designed by Florian Fecher, released in 2020), Rezak (designed by Anya Danilova, released in 2022), Aeroplan (designed by  Nina Faulhaber, to be released in May 2023), and Ploquine (designed by  Emma Marichal, currently in the design phase).
