Karmina, our beloved editorial all-rounder gets full Vietnamese support and added glyphs – and the update is free for licence owners

As part of a larger refresh of several of TypeTogether’s best-loved fonts, we’ve completed an update of the popular Karmina type family, and we’re happy to make it available free as an upgrade to existing licence owners.
Karmina is an editorial workhorse, and it was released in 2007 as a font that could handle the worst printing conditions: low quality papers, high printing speed with web presses, and variations in the ink level of the printing press. The more opportunity for printing to go wrong, the more Karmina does to make it right — the right shapes, right sturdiness, and the right tone with which to approach the reader.
For the 2026 update, we’ve added 210 glyphs (for a total of 1,078), full Vietnamese support, new glyphs for currency symbols such as the Turkish lira, Bitcoin, and Vietnamese đồng (including old style and lining). German speakers will appreciate the fact that the ß has been added in both capital and small caps, for example. Intelligent fractions have also been added, as have minor additions and fixes to spacing and kerning.
