Mätaki Mai ana Te Ao / The whole world is watching

Jockey in use in the New Zealand educational resource Mätaki Mai ana Te Ao.
The graphic design studio Fay & Walter based in Wellington, New Zealand, and the publishing house Huia Publishing worked together to create an educational resource focused on the events of 1981 Springbook tour.
The books were created for 11–13 year old students, and the full kit included student and teachers books, picture cards, and DVDs. The book received the 2017 Edify Award for Best Educational Book at the PANZ Book Design Awards (Publishers Association of New Zealand).
For this project Fay & Walter used our free font Jockey in texts and infographics, as a counterbalance to the handwritten display typeface. “Jockey was chosen for its bold geometric quirkiness that subtly relates to Māori geometric patterns, and was used to avoid hand-painted overkill from Brush Up for secondary headers and infographics”.
