Bree Devanagari: एक झलक

Bree Devanagari will be released in seven weights, including its gregarious extrabold. Designers will love its versatility and its friendly, easygoing nature. We think Bree Devanagari will find numerous uses in logos, packaging, branding, and headlines, while its text weights encourage reading in longer settings.

While Bree Devanagari’s inspiration comes from its Latin counterpart, the design team led by Pooja Saxena took special care with Devanagari letterforms. The result is an impressive palette that can go from scant in the thin weight to bursting in the extrabold.

Originally inspired by TypeTogether’s logotype, Bree Latin launched in 2008 and was an immediate triumph. A decade and a half later we began work on translating the design into Devanagari. This latest extension matches the meter of the established scripts by echoing handwritten gestures and gentle strokes, and building upon a foundation of narrow but even horizontal proportions.
