Free Font
This friendly upright italic is the serif cousin of TypeTogether's award winning font Bree. Originally released in 2008 it became an immediate success because of its originality, charming appearance and versatility. Bree Serif was initiated with the help of Google webfonts. The Regular weight is now avaialbe for free. Stay tuned, the other styles are on their way!
Webfonts
Crete Round is a slab serif with a softer touch, perfect for headlines and short texts. The web version of Crete Round and Round Italic have been made freely available through Google Webfonts while the complete OpenType Extended version is available for only €25 (includes both fonts).
 
Type in use
The small Italian publishing House, Incontri Editrice, recently published a series of books designed by Nicola Caleffi. They chose to use Athelas as main text typeface. The books, two novels, poetry and a collection of essays are beautifully set and printed on various papers.
       
CUSTOM FONTS
Jockey
Google comissioned the design of a new type family for it's webfonts project. Jockey is based on the lettering by an unknown Argentine artist who designed posters for horse race tracks in the 1930's. Read more.
