A tool for corporate communication
The corporate typeface, along with the company’s logotype and colors, is a crucial component of the corporate identity. It communicates with the customer on a subtle but important level conveying the company’s core message. There are several reasons for the growing demand for custom, tailor-made typefaces: they share the same language as the rest of the branding program of a company, guarantee the process of exchanging information both internally and externally, and allow for the company’s expansion at no extra licensing charges.
The first step
Tailored typefaces fall into two categories; each with distinct advantages. They can be modified retail typefaces or they can be completely new designs. Our first task at TypeTogether is to work closely with companies in order to understand their needs and provide them with the appropriate solution.

Through appropriate licensing, TypeTogether can modify existing typefaces without compromising ethical standards or violating intellectual property rights. Business requirements that may make modifications necessary include: format conversion, increased language support, and refinement or variation from an existing style.

Custom designed typefaces often provide a better long term investment. Rapidly expanding, as well as bigger companies are especially well situated to take advantage of this model. Instead of the large multi-user license that would otherwise be required, there is a single fee for the whole type family. This fee covers the development of the design as well as unlimited use of the typeface, and best of all exclusivity. In addition, this model also allows the design to remain the property of the company, protected by copyright laws.

Processes and goals
Brand Coherence
Tailored typefaces will be consistent with the rest of a company’s branding program. In many cases, a complete typeface is developed out of the logotype lettering.
Styles and Variables
If a typeface was developed from a logotype, it is often necessary to add more styles and create a complete type family (Bold, Italic, Small Caps, etc)
Language support
Custom typefaces are conceived to cover all the languages that a company requires according to its geographical disposition and expansion plans. Often this involves the development of multiple alphabets and support for complex writing systems.
Application compliance
They are thoroughly tested in the software applications that the company uses in its day-to-day tasks in order to guarantee complete compatibility.
Cross-platform support
They are delivered in the necessary font formats enabling them to work under the different operating systems the company uses.
Consistent performance
They must allow for correct and smooth rendering on multiple media formats, from brochures and signs to computer screens.
