FounderType interview

Last month we released Adelle Sans Chinese, our first official collaboration with FounderType. Seeing that Latin and Chinese are so unique, what is the process of bringing them more in line with each other? Sirba’s warmth translates to Polish bibles

Bible translations can sometimes be picky things: does the editor honour exact word-for-word translation regardless of bumpiness or do they prioritise overall narrative flow and comprehension? How much style is allowed and should dated examples be exchanged for paraphrases using current examples? Nicolien van der Keur’s Sirba was chosen as the printed voice of four Polish translations. Sirba, you’ll remember, was designed with a controlled range of weights to handle complex text setting with a classic touch. Paired with wood engraving-style illustrations, Sirba’s warm tone invites the reader into deeper contemplation.
