Adelle Condensed: less space, same legibility!

The serif version of Adelle has been expanded with a new condensed series of 14 styles, 7 weights with matching italics. The new extension ensures that the Adelle family provides flexible solutions in situations where saving space is vital, without losing legibility. The new fonts share proportions, skeleton and the same flavour with the Adelle family, creating a homogenous texture.

SNEAK PEEK
Ebony

We are pleased to present a sneak peek of this new and soon-to-be-released font by TypeTogether founders, Veronika Burian and José Scaglione. Developed for broad editorial use, Ebony is a type family that cleverly seeks a balance between the openness and legibility of humanist sans serifs and the striking and more regularised feel of grotesks. The letter shapes feature generous counters and open terminals, and they daringly grow in both color and width as the fonts get bolder. Ebony has nine weights plus matching italics.

Abril and Tablet Gothic

In 2012 the renowned studio Cases i Associats worked on the redesign of more than 150 titles of Johnston Press, an Edinburgh-based company with most titles in the UK and third in terms of circulation (local and regional newspapers). For some of the newspapers the Spanish studio Cases i Associats used a combination of Abril and Tablet Gothic.

In this primer, we have put together a series of thoughts and tips about the basics of lettering, font usage and tailored typography that serves as a checklist for the sensitive process of choosing and purchasing the right typeface for the job. This publication also provides guidelines about custom typography; when it is viable, how to order it, and what are its advantages when compared with retail typefaces.

EDUCATION
Workshop in France

The École de Communication Visuelle in Bordeaux, France, invited Veronika and José to hold a two-day type seminar. This short course focused on typography for newspapers, probably one of the most complex editorial piece a designer can face. Students of fourth and fifth years produced a complete typographic solution for daily newspaper covers which included lettering, lettershape digitization, font selection, typographic matching and layouting.
