The annual Gerard Unger Scholarship helps promising typeface design students develop their careers. TypeTogether’s aim is to enable exceptional projects started during a course of study to be finalised and published commercially as soon as possible after the end of the course.

This year 98 submissions with fourteen different scripts flowed in from all over the world prior to the deadline. The TypeTogether team has selected the main scholarship winner and six merit awards from among these promising typeface projects.

TypeTogether is happy to announce the 2023 Gerard Unger Scholarship winner: the Poltik font family by Patrycja Walczak. TypeTogether’s co-founder, José Scaglione, had this to say about Poltik: “Patrycja’s outlines effortlessly fuse the self-assuredness of a seasoned designer with the creative ingenuity characteristic of a student. Her typeface is a visual delight.”
