Molto sneak peak

Sneak Peek: Xavier Dupre’s Molto family

Slab serifs created their niche by their ability to overwhelm. Printing with a heavy slab font was guaranteed to grab a commuter’s attention as they walked past an ad on the street. In just a few month’s time TypeTogether will release the second family from Xavier Dupré — Molto, a modern slab serif with an alternate twist. Refined light weights and punchy heavy weights set the stage for a swashy surprise. Want to see more? We can’t wait to show you!

Book typefaces

Book Types specimen

Typesetting a book is one of the most demanding settings for using fonts, alongside annual reports, dictionaries, newspapers, and magazines. However, book typefaces are in a league of their own. Every character must be immediately recognisable, should feel like it came from a person’s own hand, but must not have an overwhelming, distracting look. TypeTogether specialises in these kinds of font families — typefaces made for long times of reading on a digital screen or a printed page. Want to see them in action? Then take a look at our brand new “Book Types” article and catalogue, then request your own copy. We print them as free exemplars and only ask that you cover the few dollars for shipping cost. Get this expert specimen for less than a good cup of coffee!

TiposLatinos 2018: Portada and Noort selected

TiposLatinos is a biennial platform that specifically promotes Latin American type design, an expanding category since its beginning fourteen years ago. Only 74 typefaces were selected out of the 444 submitted this year, and among the honourees were Juan Bruce’s Noort and Veronika and José’s Portada. The winners will be exhibited in select venues in the twelve participating countries and may make their way to other locations. Congratulations to Juan, the TypeTogether team, and the other selectees!

Maiola in use

Type In Use: Maiola & the black sheep

On the pastures of South Moravia in the Czech Republic, a like-minded group promotes the idea of open pastoralism — shepherds and their flocks roaming freely through the landscape. The International Confederation of Shepherds have expressed this idealism in the form of an almanac that gathers literature, research, philosophy, sociology, and art related to pastoralism. In exchange for a sheep named Maiola, we happily donated Maiola and Maiola Cyrillic to be beautifully used in the second volume of this extraordinary almanac, covering many different aspects of past and present pastoralism.
