TypeTogether is proud to introduce Rue Display, an organic, casually ornamental, narrow-faced sans serif designed by Winnie Tan. Rue's spirited and exploratory design is the materialization of a feeling about fonts as a family of organisms taking on a life of its own, in work and play. It was conceived as a typeface, used as an image and discovered as an ornament. It comes in 10 weights of light, regular, medium, semibold and bold, each with italics.

Education
Workshop in Polish Cieszyn

Veronika Burian and José Scaglione gave a one-week long workshop at the Slaski Zamek Sztuki i Przedsiebiorczosci in Polish Cieszyn. The type design workshop explored methods on how to develop tailored typefaces for a specific client and their requirements. The students achieved cleanly drawn and diverse typefaces. At the end of the workshop there was a showing of the students' work and the opening of TypeTogether's traveling exhibition "Designing typefaces, from concept to reader".

Veronika Burian and José Scaglione were interviewed by Stephen Coles during the last ATypI conference in October 2009. A terrace overlooking the Zócalo square of Mexico City was the perfect framework to talk about fonts, TypeTogether's beginnings and much more.

PNCA

Portland based designer/artist Pete McCracken, selected Athelas for the design of the PNCA (Pacific Northwest College of Art) recent publication "Faculty Biennal Exhibition". It is a clean and beautifully arranged showcase of the artistic works of the College's faculty/staff on occasion of the institute's centennial celebration 2009. Athelas is the only typeface used, both in continuous text as well as titles and captions, giving it the necessary elegance and air.

PROJECTS
Font Aid IV

TypeTogether contributed 3 different ampersands, together with over 400 other designers, to the charitable font project "Coming Together", organised by Fontaid IV in collaboration with The Society of Typographic Aficionados (SOTA). All revenue from sales will go to "Doctors without borders" for direct support of Haitian victims who suffer from the recent earthquake. EXHIBITIONS
Bienále Brno 2010

David Brezina's poster "Typefaces are structures", designed for TypeTogether, will be exhibited in this years 24th International Biennial of Graphic Design in Brno. The poster shows construction details of his popular typeface Skolar and explains common typographic terms. The exhibition will be open from the 22nd of June until 24th of October 2010. A folded version of the poster is available for €5.00 postage/handling fee.
